1. Who we are
Wild Anglesey (wildanglesey.com) is an independent destination guide to the Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn), Wales. We act as data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at hello@wildanglesey.com.
2. What data we collect
Wild Anglesey does not operate user accounts and does not currently run forms that collect personal data (such as name, address, or payment details).
We collect anonymous usage data via Google Analytics 4 (GA4, Measurement ID: G-8770FH0D64). This includes:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Session duration and number of sessions
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Approximate geographic location (country or region — not precise location)
- Referral source (e.g. search engine, social media)
GA4 anonymises IP addresses before processing. We do not use this data to identify you as an individual.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Wild Anglesey uses the following categories of cookie:

Set by Google Analytics 4 to measure site performance:
_ga— distinguishes users; expires after 2 years_ga_*— stores session state for GA4; expires after 2 years

These cookies are subject to each partner's own privacy and cookie policies. They do not give Wild Anglesey access to personal information about you.

Please note that disabling cookies may affect how some features of Wild Anglesey function.
4. Affiliate relationships
Wild Anglesey participates in affiliate marketing programmes. This means that when you click a link to a third-party site and make a purchase or booking, we may earn a commission. This is at no extra cost to you.
Our current affiliate programmes include:
- GetYourGuide — guided tours and experiences (partner ID: LRYHMUU)

- Booking.com — accommodation, via CJ Affiliate
Affiliate links on Wild Anglesey are identified in our HTML with the attribute rel="sponsored". Our editorial recommendations are made independently of these commercial relationships — we link to what we genuinely recommend, not what pays the highest commission.
5. Third-party services
Wild Anglesey uses the following third-party services that may process data about site visitors:
- Google Analytics — analytics and usage measurement. See Google's Privacy Policy for full details.
- Netlify — website hosting. Netlify may collect server logs including IP addresses as part of normal hosting operations. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
- Affiliate networks — GetYourGuide, Viator, AWIN, and CJ Affiliate, as described in section 4 above.
Wild Anglesey does not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
6. Data retention
Google Analytics 4 retains anonymised usage data for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted. This is the shortest standard retention period available in GA4.
Wild Anglesey does not store any other personal data about site visitors. We do not maintain a database of users, email addresses (outside any correspondence you initiate with us), or browsing histories.
Any emails you send to us are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your query and are not shared with third parties.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to data portability — you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — you can object to the processing of your data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.
Because most data we handle is anonymous analytics data, these rights may have limited practical application. However, we will respond to all requests promptly and in line with our legal obligations.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@wildanglesey.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The latest version is always available at wildanglesey.com/privacy-policy. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the policy was most recently revised.
We recommend checking this page periodically. Continued use of Wild Anglesey after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
