Frequently asked questions

Do I need kayaking experience?

No — beginners' sessions are available and no prior experience is needed. Guides cover paddle technique and safety on the water before you set off.

What is the minimum age for sea kayaking?

Minimum ages vary by operator. Most guided sessions accept children from around 8–10 years old. Check with the operator when booking.

Is the Menai Straits safe for kayaking?

Yes — the Menai Straits is one of the most popular sea kayaking destinations in Wales. The sheltered water is suitable for beginners on guided tours. Tidal currents can be strong, which is why guided sessions are recommended for first-timers.
